Inspiration
Growing up, my family did not do much travelling. Our summer vacations were to nearby cities where family lived or Christian conventions within driving distance. Inevitably that meant summer trips to Detroit, St Louis, Jackson MS and Danville IL. No offense to those cities but those places aren’t going to create a lifelong love of travel. In fact I turned down an opportunity to study abroad in London my senior year of college because I didn’t think the experience was worth the extra $1000 tuition!
So what changed? I remember being at a pre-interview dinner sitting with other candidates and a Managing Director at the company. All of the other candidates had rich travel experiences and had seen parts of the world that I never even imagined. I was effectively cut out of the conversation. I basically zoned out listening to some kid 4 yrs younger than me talk about his summer in Thailand. I feared that my lack of connection with the interviewer (who had just come back from abroad himself) would doom my job prospects at that firm.
Turns out my fears were unfounded. I got the job (so too did the kid who went to Thailand). But it was at that moment that I made a goal for myself to leave the country once per year, starting with a trip to Thailand (Never made it to Thailand, but that is a story for another day!).

I am doing this for me as much as I am for you. This is a great way to relive my travel experiences as well as share tips and insights with others. as for the name travel bigger… after hearing me talk about a goal someone told me I needed to dream bigger. That advice stuck with me and became a motto for my life.
